Sometimes, one person’s belief can change the course of an entire career. Veteran actor Mithun Chakraborty experienced this firsthand when actress Zeenat Aman stood by him during his struggling days, at a time when many people doubted his potential to become a successful star.
During his appearance on the singing reality show Sa Re Ga Ma Pa in 2023, Mithun Chakraborty opened up about the challenges he faced in the early stages of his career. He recalled how people underestimated him and questioned whether he could ever become a leading hero in the film industry.
Mithun Chakraborty shared that many people considered him a small-time star and doubted his ability to achieve success as a mainstream hero. Their comments deeply hurt him and even today, remembering those experiences brings back painful memories.
The actor also revealed that his journey from B-grade films to A-grade cinema was far from easy. There were instances when actresses withdrew from projects even after the films had been officially announced.
According to Mithun Chakraborty, there was considerable pressure during that period, as some established actors were reportedly insecure about his growing potential. He suggested that certain actors may have discouraged actresses from working with him by warning them that doing so could affect their future opportunities to work with those established stars.
Despite these difficulties, one actress decided to place her trust in him, well, we are talking about none other than Zeenat Aman. Mithun Chakraborty recalled how Zeenat Aman appreciated his looks and agreed to work with him when others were hesitant. Her decision proved to be a turning point in his career.
At that time, Zeenat Aman was considered one of the leading actresses in the industry. Mithun explained that her willingness to work with him helped change the perception of other actresses, who gradually began accepting films alongside him. He credited Zeenat’s support with breaking the barrier that had prevented him from moving into mainstream cinema. The release of Taqdeer marked a significant milestone, as Mithun Chakraborty finally established himself as an A-category actor.
Looking back at those difficult days, Mithun expressed his deep gratitude to Zeenat Aman for believing in him when others did not. He acknowledged that her support played an important role in helping him achieve the recognition he had been working towards. Concluding his heartfelt tribute, Mithun Chakraborty offered his pranaam to Zeenat Aman and said that he would always remain grateful to her for the faith she had shown in him.
His story highlights how a single opportunity and the support of someone who believes in your potential can make a lasting difference, especially when the world seems to be against you.
