Motor Vehicles (Amendment) Bill 2019 is finally passed in the Lok Sabha on Tuesday. Motor Vehicles Act of 1988 has been amended in the new bill and traffic violations fines have been increased. The bill was passed by the speaker Om Birla on the basis of voice note. For this bill to become a law it will be sent to Rajya Sabha for clearance. After passing in both the houses the president will sign and make it a law.
In 2017 also the bill was passed in Lok Sabha but Rajya Sabha did not clear it, due to which it was dissolved. Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari presented the bill in the lower house of the Parliament on Monday and after discussion, it was passed with a majority on Tuesday.
The new law will be more strict than the previous one and violation of road traffic will outweigh your pocket.
