MS Dhoni and Virat Kohli have shared one of the strongest relationships in Indian cricket, shaped by years of playing together, guiding each other through pressure and celebrating some of India’s biggest victories. Their bond has always stood out for its trust and mutual admiration, with Dhoni’s calm approach perfectly complementing Kohli’s intensity. Even after Dhoni stepped away from international cricket, their connection has remained as warm as ever, making any reunion between them a moment fans cherish.

That spirit was evident when MS Dhoni hosted Virat Kohli and Rishabh Pant for dinner at his home in Ranchi on November 27. Kohli and Pant are currently in the city to prepare for the first ODI of India’s three-match series against South Africa, scheduled for November 30 at the JSCA International Stadium Complex.
Virat Kohli had arrived in India a day earlier from London where he now lives with his family and on Thursday evening, he was seen entering Dhoni’s residence.
A few hours later, images and videos of MS Dhoni personally driving Virat Kohli back to the team hotel surfaced online, quickly spreading across social media and capturing the attention of fans everywhere.

Ranchi last hosted an international match in February 2024, when India played the fourth Test against England. Kohli was unavailable for the entire series at the time because of the birth of his second child, Akaay. Now set to return to the No. 3 spot in the ODI lineup, Kohli’s previous outing for India came on October 25 in Sydney against Australia, where he scored an unbeaten half-century that helped the team avoid a whitewash in the away series.
With Shubman Gill recovering from a neck injury sustained during the first Test in Kolkata, KL Rahul will lead the ODI side in his absence. Rishabh Pant, returning to ODI cricket after more than a year, joins fellow returnees Ruturaj Gaikwad, Ravindra Jadeja and Tilak Varma. Yashasvi Jaiswal is expected to partner world No. 1 ODI batter Rohit Sharma at the top, while Tilak is likely to take over the No. 4 position from Shreyas Iyer.
As the team prepares for the series, MS Dhoni’s quiet dinner gathering added warmth and familiarity to what promises to be an exciting cricketing week in Ranchi.
