MS Dhoni Reprimanded For Violating IPL Code Of Conduct During RPS vs MI Match

We all love Mahendra Singh Dhoni for his talent and passion in cricket. The man has this calm nature which is unmatched in the history of Indian Cricket.

IPL 2017 has begun and the cricket spirit has taken over us already. Sadly, one news is making us upset. Rising Pune Supergiant’s skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni has been reprimanded for breaching IPL Code of Conduct.

The IPL press release stated,
“M.S. Dhoni admitted the Level 1 offense (Article 2.1.1) of conduct that is contrary to the spirit of the game. For Level 1 breaches of the IPL Code of Conduct, the Match Referee’s decision is final and binding.”

Well, the surprising part is that the exact offense is not mentioned in detail.

As mentioned on the IPL website the Level 1 offense (Article 2.1.1) is when a player doesn’t match up to the clothing rules and regulations.

Here’s what it exactly means

2.1.1 Breach of the IPL Clothing Regulations, save for breaches relating to a ‘Commercial Logo’ or a ‘Player’s Bat Logo’ as those terms are defined therein.

Note: “One of the core objectives of the IPL Clothing Regulations is to ensure appropriate and professional standards of appearance on the field of play and to prevent those practices that undermine that objective (for example the covering up/alteration of clothing and equipment with sticking plaster or marker pens, the wearing of batting pads painted with paint that subsequently fades or falls off and/or the use of prohibited logos).”

The main objective is that player should appear on the field that matches the professional standards of appearances.

Not just M.S Dhoni, in the past IPL season, Shaun Marsh and Glen Maxwell were also reprimanded under the same breach of conduct.

The good point is that there is nothing much to worry about as the maximum punishment for this breach of conduct is some fine on the match fees. There won’t be any ban on playing the game.

We are waiting for the official statement from the board of IPL And BCCI in regards to this breach of conduct.
