MS Dhoni, the former Indian cricketer under whose leadership Chennai Super Kings managed to win 5 IPL titles is one of the most loved cricketers of all times and there are pretty good chances that this IPL is Mahi’s last IPL as a player.
MS Dhoni has already handed over the duties of captaincy to Ruturaj Gaikwad and it is being said that he is suffering from an injury but he is still playing despite being advised rest by doctors because he doesn’t want to leave his team midway.
Yesterday CSK played their last league match at their home ground Chepauk Stadium and after the match, MS Dhoni was seen hitting tennis balls towards the crowd with the racquet in order to provide souvenirs to some of his fans. While MSD was busy making his fans happy, the former Indian cricketer Navjot Singh Sidhu who is doing commentary in the IPL 2024 became a little poetic while praising Mahi. He called Dhoni a ‘yugpurush’ and described the cult of MSD in some heavy and positive words.
Here are some excerpts from Sidhu’s praise of MS Dhoni, “Ye sakaratmak soch ki parakashtha hai, Himalaya parvat hai, yugpurush hai. Jub ye khel ko chodh kar jayenge, ek yug ka ant hoga. Ek yug sampan hoga. Kabhi kabhi koi maa kisi yugpurush ko janam deti hai aur wo cult ki tarah phailta hai.”
Here is the video in which you can hear Navjot Singh Sidhu:

MS Dhoni is also one of the most successful skippers of the Indian team as it was under his captaincy that India won three ICC trophies, 2007 T20 World Cup, 2011 ODI World Cup and 2013 Champions Trophy.
CSK played its last league match at Chepauk against Rajasthan Royals and won it by 5 wickets. RR won the toss and decided to bat first but it could manage only 141/5 in the stipulated 20 overs. The highest scorer for RR was Riyan Parag who remained unbeaten at 47 runs (35 balls, 1 four & 3 fours) and CSK chased the target successfully as the skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad led from the front and scored 42 runs not out (41 balls, 1 four & 2 sixes). Interestingly, Ravindra Jadeja was dismissed for obstructing the field which is certainly a rare occasion and the CSK bowler Simarjeet Singh was adjudged as the Player of the Match as he ended the match with the figures of 3/26.
Thala for a reason!
