A charity auction was held by sports website xtratime.in for helping Bapi Majhi, the die hard fan of Mohun Bagan, who is fighting liver cancer and also the family of Alip Chakraborty, another die hard football fan, who died due to cancer.

Well, the auction had various items on sale including Leander Paes’ Wimbeldon mixed doubles winning racquets and MS Dhoni’s gloves and pads. Do you know how much were the gloves and pads of Dhoni sold at? Well, together they fetched Rs 2.5 lakhs!

The website stated that they collected a total of 14 lakh rupees, which would be handed over to Chakraborty and Majhi families.

The racquets of the tennis player were brought by Manoj Tiwary, the Bengal Captain. After he bought the racquets, Manoj stated

“At the age of 42, Leander is still winning Grand Slams. His dedication and hard work is an inspiration for all sportspersons. I love playing tennis during breaks and it would be nice to play with these racquets.”

Paes personally called up Manoj and promised to meet him when he is in Kolkata. Pele’s autographed football was sold at a price of Rs 1.10 lakhs! Other items included jersey of Ajinkya Rahane, the famous cricketer and jersey of Sunil Chhetri, the Indian football captain.
