Musheer Khan delivered a remarkable performance in India B’s Duleep Trophy match against India A at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. The 19-year-old showcased his talent by scoring a superb 181 runs off 373 deliveries, helping his team reach a competitive total in their first innings.
Despite the frequent fall of wickets at the other end, Musheer displayed great skill and composure to keep the scoreboard moving. He found a reliable partner in tail-ender Navdeep Saini and together they built a massive 205-run partnership for the eighth wicket. This stands as the highest eighth-wicket partnership in the history of the Duleep Trophy.
With his incredible debut knock, Musheer joined the ranks of some of the finest domestic batters, including Baba Aparajith, Yash Dhull, and the legendary former Indian cricketer Sachin Tendulkar. His score of 181 is now the third highest for a debutant in the Duleep Trophy, behind Aparajith’s 212.
Musheer has made significant strides since his impressive performances in the 2024 ICC Under-19 World Cup, where he scored 360 runs, becoming the second highest run-scorer of the tournament.
His innings was finally brought to an end by the experienced Kuldeep Yadav, who tempted Musheer into an aggressive shot that led to a mistimed hit and a catch by Riyan Parag in the deep.
Meanwhile, Musheer’s batting partner Navdeep Saini also scored a well-deserved half-century, putting India B in a commanding position in their opening game of the tournament. With a strong total on the board, the focus will now shift to the bowlers to secure a win by dismissing the opposition quickly.
Well played, Musheer Khan!
