Sonam Kapoor starrer “Neerja” based on the real life character of Neerja Bhanot is growing bigger and better in terms of praises as well as Box Office collection and the whole credit goes to word of mouth in this case. “Neerja” portrays the story of a flight attendant Neerja Bhanot who died while saving 359 lives when Mumbai to New York, Pan Am Flight 73 was hijacked on Sept. 5, 1986.
Although the movie witnessed a slow pace on the first day as far as collection is concerned, it earned a far better sum on Saturday, the second day. When on Friday, the collection was only Rs. 4.70 cr, it had a considerable increase on the 2nd day when it was able to earn Rs. 7.60 cr and this data increased significantly on Sunday with a collection of Rs. 9.71 cr. Hence, the total earning made by “Neerja” in the domestic market is Rs. 22.01 cr and it’s really commendable on its part since the movie could recover the whole cost invested in production, i.e., Rs. 21 cr in just 3 days of its release!!
