Neerja’s Colleagues Call Movie More Fiction & Less Real; Claim “Even Her Soul Would Cringe”

Ever since the Bollywood movie “Neerja” directed by Ram Madhvani and starring Sonam Kapoor in the lead role released, it is receiving world-wide applaud for brilliantly illustrating the story of Neerja Bhanot who lost her life while saving more than 350 people. Not only India but the whole world salutes this brave lady and her exemplary courage which she showed when Mumbai to New York, Pan Am Flight 73 was hijacked on Sept. 5, 1986.

Additionally, viewers appreciated Sonam too for marvelously portraying the character of Neerja Bhanot on the screen and believed that this movie marks her entry in Bollywood in actual sense. What’s more, there won’t be a single soul (of course those who don’t know Neerja personally or were not present at the time of hijack) who is not impressed with the movie and calls it a Blockbuster.

But what’s this? Just after a couple of days of its release, Neerja Bhanot’s crew members are saying “Neerja” is largely a work of fiction and does not show the reality. In fact, according to them, even Neerja’s soul “would cringe at taking this undeserved adulation”.

Nupoor Abrol, a crew member on the same flight, commented in a Facebook post that it is “a difficult moment for all those flight attendants to accept the movie for what it is unfairly propagating.” Other crew members also joined Nupoor in comments and here’s how the conversation followed:

Shocking, isn’t it?

This compels us to think whether our movie makers don’t even opt for a detailed analysis before making any movie on a real incident or a person….. Quite often, we come across such cases where makers are accused of adding fiction and not representing the complete truth while claiming the story to be based on real incidents and individuals.
