In Odisha, a newly-wed lady has alleged that she is getting harassed by her husband and her in-laws after she refused to get “close” to self-proclaimed God Man Sarathi Baba (Santosh Roul). Sarathi Baba is presently in jail in due to the cases regarding his sexual encounters.
She made an FIR in Nikirai police station, Kendrapara district, Odisha, in which she stated that she was taken to Barimula Ashram to meet the Godman, on the fourth day of their marriage by her husband. The marriage took place in January, this year only.
After she gave her statement in front of sub-divisional judicial magistrate, she talked to media and said, “When we visited him, the Baba gave me a saree and sankhas (bangles). After that my husband went outside leaving me alone inside the room. My husband asked me to stay there for some time. I felt a little awkward when the Baba’s associates insisted that I must go inside his chamber to get his blessings. Though I denied to take blessings of the Baba, my husband forced me to go into the godman’s chamber and seek his blessings. But I protested and returned home.”
The lady claims that since then she has been harassed by her husband and her in-laws are also supporting her husband. She also told, “Though I had made a written complaint in this regard earlier, it was not accepted.”
Sarathi Baba is already in trouble for taking a woman to a hotel in Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh.
