Nick Jonas has shared an interesting story about how his proposal to Priyanka Chopra almost didn’t go as planned because of an unexpected travel delay.
In the latest episode of Hey Jonas, Nick revealed that he proposed to Priyanka on July 19, 2018, just two months after they started dating. The couple had travelled to Greece to celebrate Priyanka’s birthday on July 18 and Nick had carefully planned to pop the question at midnight, right after her birthday.
However, their flight was delayed by 3–4 hours, forcing him to rethink the entire plan. Nick Jonas admitted that he spent the journey mentally calculating the timing while trying to keep the surprise a secret. Priyanka Chopra, unaware of what was happening, noticed that he seemed unusually stressed and kept asking why he was so anxious.
Priyanka later shared that she had no idea a proposal was coming. She believed they were simply enjoying a holiday together in Greece.
After they finally reached their destination, Nick Jonas said he spent dinner constantly checking the clock, worried that everything would go wrong because they had arrived much later than expected. Priyanka Chopra, meanwhile, thought his nervousness was just part of his personality and joked that she wondered if he was always like that on vacations.
At around 2:30 am, when Priyanka suggested going to bed, Nick told her he had one more gift for her. He went back to their room, picked up the engagement ring, returned and got down on one knee to propose.
Nick Jonas recalled that Priyanka Chopra didn’t answer immediately. Instead, she looked at him for nearly 40–50 seconds, leaving him wondering whether he should go ahead and put the ring on her finger. Priyanka clarified that he did place the ring on first and only then did she say yes.
The couple got married in December 2018 at the Umaid Bhawan Palace in Jodhpur, Rajasthan. They later welcomed their daughter, Malti Marie Chopra Jonas, in 2022.
