Indians have been obsessed with white skin for a long time, it is recently that the stereotype is breaking and giving everyone a piece of fresh air. But this fight to get the so-over-hyped fairness break took really a long time but people never gave up. Previously people used to crazy for white skin girl, but gradually this craze acquired a space in the Men’s world rather domain as well. This is when a brave guy, Nikhil Jain took a stand and decided to fight against a giant fairness cream company that promoted the concept of white skin starring superstar Shahrukh Khan.

On the race to endorse and earn more, stars often forget their responsibility towards the society and that there are more than lakhs of people who worship and follow them religiously. Shahrukh Khan who endorsed the Fair & Handsome cream also sent across a wrong message to one of his loyal fan who ended up being disappointed with the product and all those false claim it did in the Advertisement.
It happened so that Nikhil Jain, bought the Fair & Handsome cream after seeing the advertisement claiming that after 3 months of continuous application, the skin will go from dark to whitish or from whitish to fair. The advertisement featured Shahrukh Khan which is one of the major reason why complainant Nikhil Jain, bought the cream by Emami Group on 8-10-2012. But even after the application for the said period of time, the results didn’t appear to reflect on his face, it caused a huge mental injury as he believed that the Company has played with his emotions.To enlighten the other men of the society about the fraudulent practiced by the company to sell its product, Nikhil along with his brother Paras Jain filed a case against the company in Consumer Forum and fighted for continous two and half years.

And, good things happen to those who wait.

The result is that istrict Consumer Disputes Redressal Forum (Central), Delhi has imposed the penalty in form of Punitive Damages of Rs 15,00,000 /- on the Emami Company for contemplating and manipulating with the consumers and using fraudulent & false measures to sell its Fairness Cream. The Court has directed the company withdraw the advertisements representing that the use of the product will change the complexion and pay Rs 10,000/- to the complainant as compensation.

Now this is some really good news to the ears after years! The society is keen to break the norms, but those at power are still pressing against the old adage and is not letting the society break free from stereotypes.
