No More Airports In India To Be Named After Politicians & Netas’… BRAVO

Indira Gandhi International Airport, Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport, Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport, such names of airports are very common in India. With the nation stepping towards great growth and digitization and engraving its name among the list of Powerful Nation, at times it is sad to know that a small step can give you a setback.

Recently theater and film personality Girish Karnad suggested that Bengaluru Airport should be named as Kempegowda International Airport instead of being named Tipu Sultan, this issue became a major controversy accompanied with violent protests. But the good news is, some state governments have recommended doing away with the system of naming new airports after individuals especially politicians , a proposal that is being considered by the civil aviation ministry.

“The proposal has come from some of the state governments but a final decision is yet to be taken. It will, however, not result in a change of name for any of existing airports,” minister of state for civil aviation Mahesh Sharma said.

Well, this news is some breath of fresh air. & We all should welcome it with open minds.

Way to go! Bravo.
