“Not As Strong As Dravid, Ganguly, Laxman, Sachin & Sehwag,” Shane Warne On Current Indian Batting

The Indian cricket team is getting appreciated a lot for the manner in which it played in the 5-match test series against England. The Indian squad stands as a winner in the series by 2-1, though the fifth test match which was scheduled to be played at Manchester got cancelled due to COVID-19 as the fourth member from the Indian camp tested positive.

The present cricket team has been performing quite well in all the formats lately and many cricket fans and experts are of the opinion that this squad is the strongest Indian team ever but the former Australian cricketer Shane Warne doesn’t feel so. While speaking on a show on a sports channel, Shane Warne states that the present Indian batting line-up is certainly impressive but it is nowhere near in comparison with the golden era which had fab five – Sachin Tendulkar, Virender Sehwag, Sourav Ganguly, Rahul Dravid and VVS Laxman.

As per Shane Warne, these five cricketers played many memorable innings and led their team to win matches by thrashing the opposition bowlers. Moreover, he praises the Indian skipper Virat Kohli by calling him one of the best batsmen on the Earth and besides him, he also refers to Rohit Sharma as a standout player. The Aussie spinner is of the opinion that Rishabh Pant will be a superstar down the line but he feels that the recent victories which India has registered is not because of its batting but because of the pace bowling that has performed well not just in India but overseas as well.

Now we will get to see the Indian players playing in the second leg of the IPL 2021 for their respective IPL teams and it is going to be played in UAE from September 19. The first leg of the tournament took place in April but it was postponed midway after the country got hit by the second wave of COVID-19.

The IPL 2021 will also serve as an opportunity for the players to prepare themselves for the ICC T20 World Cup which is going to take place just after the league and at the same venue.

There is no denying the fact that the Indian cricket lovers of 90s still miss watching their favourite fab five (Sachin Tendulkar, Virender Sehwag, Sourav Ganguly, Rahul Dravid and VV Laxman) on the cricket field and it was always a treat to see them in action. Agree?
