Carrying a famous surname comes with its own pressure but Arjun Tendulkar is slowly carving out his own journey in cricket. Ahead of the IPL 2026, India and Lucknow Super Giants all-rounder made an interesting revelation about his inspiration, naming Yuvraj Singh as his batting idol instead of his legendary father Sachin Tendulkar.
Arjun shared that he has always admired Yuvraj’s batting style and enjoyed the way he approached the game. When asked if he also looked up to Yuvraj’s bowling, Arjun gave a simple and honest response, pointing out that while Yuvraj Singh was a spinner, he himself is a fast bowler and their roles are quite different.
The young cricketer is entering a new phase in his IPL career after moving from Mumbai Indians to Lucknow Super Giants in a trade deal involving Shardul Thakur. It remains to be seen whether he will make it to the playing XI when Lucknow faces Delhi Capitals in their opening match on Wednesday.
Despite being the son of Sachin Tendulkar, Arjun is still searching for a breakthrough season. His time with Mumbai Indians brought limited opportunities, largely due to the intense competition within the squad filled with top talents. Realising the importance of regular game time, Arjun made a key decision a few years ago to shift from Mumbai to Goa in domestic cricket.
He explained that the move was carefully thought out, as he wanted more chances to play and improve. In a competitive setup like Mumbai, breaking into the team consistently was difficult, so Goa offered him the space to grow, take on responsibility and develop his all-round skills further.
Arjun also spoke about the mindset every cricketer carries. He acknowledged that players naturally want more opportunities and do not enjoy sitting out but he believes the focus should remain on working hard and making the most of every chance that comes along.
