In Bhopal, the police have taken an Ola cab driver into custody as he has been accused of allegedly raping a woman traveler on December 29, 2015; however, the arrest has been made on January 3, 2016 as the lady was threatened by the driver and she was afraid of filing a complaint against him.
Police Inspector Suryakant Awasthi of Koh-e-Fiza police station told that the 28-yr married lady registered an FIR on January 1, 2016 as the accused driver Dipak Bamane has threatened her of dire consequences if she reveals the incident to anyone.
The victim is an employee in a private hospital and on December 29, 2015 she took Dipak’s cab from her house. Dipak raped the victim inside the cab on the isolated stretch that comes between Bairagarh and Gandhi Nagar. Three days after the incident, the lady talked to her husband about the incident, after which the complaint was registered and the accused was arrested.
Suryakant also said that most probably the cab driver knew the victim as he lives in close proximity to her house. Dipak has been working with Ola for last few months; his car has been seized and the investigation is in process.
