The image of BJP is getting maligned in view of the fact that Kailash Vijayvargiya, national general secretary, and Roopa Ganguly, women’s wing president, are allegedly involved in child trafficking, as revealed by Chandana Chakraborty, an accused of one such case that lately took place in North Bengal.
Chandana was running a child care home and as per her, Juhi Chowdhury probably had a word with Roopa and Kailash for resolving few issues with regard to the child care home. Chowdhury is women’s wing’s general secretary of State BJP.
Nevertheless, this accusation is denied by the BJP leadership.
Here’s what reporters were told by Chandana in Siliguri before she appeared in the court,
“I have not spoken to anyone (Central BJP leaders). Juhi spoke to them and perhaps to Roopa Ganguly and Kailash Vijayvargiya. I was sitting in another room when she spoke to them.”
According to her, she sought “some help” from Juhi who also gave her assurance of “resolving all the problems” in connection with the child care home.
As far as Kailash Vijayvargiya’s reaction over the matter is concerned, he negated all the charges and stated that Kolkata cops were “controlled by Trinammol Congress”. Not only this, he also added that “they (Kolkata Police) keep conspiring against us. They have already targeted our party leaders Joyprakash Majumdar and Sishir Bajoria. Now they are conspiring against me.”
It was around a week ago that Criminal Investigation Department of the state busted the racket and took Chakraborty into custody along with an associate. Soon another person had been detained and it was a tough situation for the state BJP when Chowdhury’s name cropped up in the course of investigation.
As of now, she is absconding; however, Dilip Ghose, State president, is of the opinion that she’s just a “victim of TMC’s political vendetta” whereas Babul Supriyo, Union Minister, has raised questions about reasons behind her absconding.
In recent times, Ganguly brought embarrassment for State leadership by posting that she was “advised” by Ghose for making Juhi women’s wing’s general secretary.
