Facebook is going to give a complete new look to your Messenger inbox! Yes, you heard it right, now when you start this ‘Messenger app’ on your smartphone, you are going to see much more than ‘recent messages’.
It will take you a new ‘Home’ page which is categorized into different modules. On the top, you will see your recent messages, but below, you will see a ‘Favorites’ module, wherein you will find a list of people whom you frequently message.
Apart from this, there is going to be an ‘Active Now’ module, which would show you which friend of yours is online right now. Then, it is going to be a ‘Birthdays’ module for reminding you in case of a friends’ birthday.
Facebook stated that these changes are going to offer ease of use to the users as they’ll get to see relevant information. Now even contacts can be found easily in one-tap! Have a look!

There would also be an option for ‘HOME’ wherein user can directly navigate to his main screen!
Stan Chudnovsky, Facebook Messaging head says “The way messages appear in your messaging applications hasn’t really changed since the beginning of the smartphone era. It’s one long list of all the messages in chronological order,”
He further added that those modules are like groups of different people or different messages together. Stan stated that more modules would be added over a period of time and the inbox would look very different. He says “It’s time we started to innovate in how it looks and how it feels.”
Someone expressed concerns over the inbox looking extremely cluttered on which Chudnovsky stated that priority would still be given to new messages.
He adds “The most important thing is to make sure that the messages that are unread are at the very top, and they’re always there, so every time the message arrives it goes to the top and it stays there,”
