“Once Warner, Smith Retire…,” Michael Vaughan Opines On Australia’s Proper Collapse In 2nd Test

The Australian cricket team is getting slammed over its poor performance in the second test match which was played at Arun Jaitley Stadium, New Delhi. India won that test match by 6 wickets by chasing the target of 115 runs successfully in its second innings after the Indian bowlers wrapped up the Aussie batting line-up for just 113 runs in their second innings.

Ravindra Jadeja was phenomenal in the second innings of Australia as he dismissed 7 Aussie batters and gave just 42 runs in his 12 overs. The remaining three wickets were taken by Ravichandran Ashwin and he gave 59 runs in his 16 overs. Australia started its second innings on the day 2 of the game and by the end of the day, it had scored 61/1 but on the day 3, the Australian batting collapsed pretty soon which left cricket fans and former cricketers frustrated.

The former England cricketer Michael Vaughan was also a little surprised after seeing Australia collapsed in such a manner but he also maintained that many teams have faced such a situation in India. However, the bigger concern that he had was the lack of talent in the Australian camp especially after Steve Smith and David Warner retire.

Here is what Michael Vaughan tweeted, “Waking up to see a proper collapse by the Aussies.. many teams have done the same in India.. it’s not easy.. but let’s be honest the Aussies once Warner & Smith retire have very little waiting in the wings..”

Though Steve Smith and David Warner are highly talented, still the Aussies have a bright future with Marnus Labuschagne, Travis Head, Todd Murphy, etc. What do you have to say in regard to the tweet made by Michael Vaughan about the Australian cricket team?
