This Open Letter By A Soldier Posted In Kashmir Will Make The Whole Country Ashamed - RVCJ Media

Unquestionably, clashes between the Indian security forces and public are continuously going on in the Kashmir valley after killing of terrorist Burhan Wani by the Indian army. A lot has been written and discussed in this connection by media and by social media too.

Just lately, an army veteran wrote an open letter on this matter and he was given a reply by a Kashmiri youth but now a soldier of a paramilitary force has written an open letter and asked some really difficult questions.

Every INDIAN Should Read This Letter:

“I am employed in Paramilitary forces, posted in Kashmir for the last four years and this month, I finished 10 years of my service. My monthly salary is approximately Rs. 28,000 and if I take leaves, then my salary comes to Rs. 22,500 after deduction.

My family lives in a rented house for which I pay Rs. 5,000 as rent every month, I have two kids and I spend almost Rs. 6,000 every month on their school fees, tuition and other expenses. My family’s monthly household expenditure is nearly Rs. 7,000. So all in all, the monthly expenditure of my household is approx. Rs. 18,000.

The total mobile expenses of my family including me are Rs. 1,500 and when I go to my home in holidays in every 3 months, the total expenses incurred on my tickets and other expenses is Rs. 10,000. If nobody from my family feels ill in a month then a saving of Rs. 3,000 is done otherwise it is difficult to do any saving.

I am posted in Kashmir so I can only talk to them and can’t provide them with good teachings and security. That is why, I am always afraid that they may learn some bad habits if they are exposed to persons who are habitual of getting intoxicated. My family also doesn’t get proper security and anybody gets away after saying anything to them. Even if my family goes to police, the police scolds them in return and if FIR is registered, then powerful people of the city start harassing my family. In fact, my property is also not safe and someone or the other wants to encroach it, when we make a complaint, we get to know that he is a relative of any politician and our problem is never solved despite getting many promises.

My life is always in danger, I am also educated, I may live at home, take care of my family, earn good and can provide my kids with good education, can pick and drop them from school, not only take care of my property but also provide security to the ladies of my family. Here my body is on duty for 24 hours but I can’t get proper sleep for days as I am afraid thinking about this heinous world.

People talk very highly of us but the ground reality is that nothing really happens for us. I give you one example, I have been in service for the last 10 years but my house has no electricity and no cemented road; however in 2013-14, another person from the same Gram Panchayat got selected in civil services and just in 3 months, government constructed a road till his house and provided him with electricity while I met many officials and requested but nothing has happened till now.

Please tell us what mistakes we have committed or whose money we have taken illegally. We don’t want any poor person to suffer because of us but at the same time, neither we want government to harm our confidence nor do we want our families to be ashamed.”
