Will MS Dhoni hang his boots after IPL 2024?

The partial schedule of the IPL 2024 has been released by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and the first match will be played between the defending champions Chennai Super Kings and Royal Challengers Bangalore on 22nd March.

The complete schedule has not been released because general elections will also take place in the country this year and the remaining schedule will be released only after the Election Commission will announce the schedule for nation-wide polls.

With the IPL 2024 approaching, the discussion regarding whether this IPL will be MS Dhoni’s last season or not has once again intensified and the majority feels that the 42 years old cricketer will certainly hang his boots this time.

CSK won its fifth title under MS Dhoni’s leadership in the IPL 2023 and at that time, MS Dhoni promised his fans that he will try to come back for one more season for them only, provided his body permits him and he will be fulfilling his promise by playing in the IPL 2024 but what after that, nobody has the answer.

The former Indian cricketer Parthiv Patel said in an interview that after every 10 months, we discuss this question whether it is Dhoni’s last IPL or not for 2 months but he is the only one who can answer this.

Parthiv Patel is also of the opinion that MS Dhoni will struggle in the batting segment as he hasn’t been playing any other cricket. Parthiv said that in over the last 16 IPL seasons, it has been seen that even the big names of the world cricket who didn’t play much domestic or any other format cricket have faced difficulty in the tournament and he gave the example of former Aussie cricketers Matthew Hayden and Adam Gilchrist.

MS Dhoni scored only 104 runs in the IPL 2023, his average was 26 but his impact was big as he batted at the strike rate of 182.46. MS Dhoni will be coming lower down the order in the IPL 2024 as well and it won’t be wrong to say that CSK’s success will depend on Mahi’s leadership and wicket-keeping skills.
