PBKS Took A Dig At Rohit Sharma, MI’s Kickass Reply Made PBKS Delete Their Tweet

In the modern times, an IPL match is played not just on the field but on the social media platforms, especially on the micro-blogging site Twitter as well and almost the same thing happened during the match between Mumbai Indian and Punjab Kings which was played yesterday at Punjab Cricket Association Stadium, Mohali.

The toss was won by MI and it chose to bowl first, though PBKS lost their opener Prabhsimran Singh quite early at the score of 9, skipper Shikhar Dhawan (30 runs, 20balls, 5 fours) and Matt Short (27 runs, 26 balls, 2 fours & 1 six) stabilized the innings. However, the blistering knocks of Liam Livingstone (82 runs not out, 42 balls, 7 fours & 4 sixes) and Jitesh Sharma (49 runs not out, 27 balls, 5 fours & 2 sixes) made sure that PBKS put up a big total of 214/3 on the score board.

In response, MI had a bad start as skipper Rohit Sharma got out for a duck after playing 3 deliveries but things turned a little ugly when the official Twitter handle of PBKS mocked Rohit Sharma by posting a tweet which read, “R0 (digit 0 instead of O)”.

This tweet didn’t go well with the fans of Rohit Sharma and they slammed PBKS for taking a jibe at their favourite cricketer whom they also refer to as RO.

The official Twitter handle of MI reacted pretty soon and it reminded PBKS that Rohit Sharma has 6 IPL trophies (5 as skipper of MI and 1 as player of Deccan Chargers (now defunct)) but PBKS which was earlier known as Kings XI Punjab is one of the three teams which haven’t won even a single title despite being associated with the IPL since inauguration in 2008.

After this brutal reminder from MI, PBKS deleted their earlier tweet in which they mocked Rohit Sharma.

Though the target was huge, Ishan Kishan (75 runs, 41 balls, 7 fours & 4 sixes) and Suryakumar Yadav (66 runs, 31 balls, 8 fours & 2 sixes) played explosive knocks and helped their team in winning the match with 6 wickets in hand and 7 balls remaining in their innings.

While MI is at the 6th spot in points table with 5 wins in 9 matches, PBKS is at the 7th position with the same number of wins in 10 matches.

That was a kickass reply from MI to PBKS but don’t you think that mocking opposition players especially the skipper is a bad practice?
