Pic Of New Rs 50 Note Circulates Online! Is It Real Or Fake?

Soon after demonetization, RBI had said that it would introduce some new notes of Rs 20 and Rs 50. Yes, it had made this announcement after it printed new notes of Rs 500 and Rs 2000.

RBI had said that the new Rs 50 and Rs 20 currency will have numerals that are ascending in size and wouldn’t have intaglio painting.

There was a report in December which read, “

The Reserve Bank will shortly issue Rs 50 denomination banknotes in the Mahatma Gandhi Series-2005, without inset letter in both the number panels, bearing signature of Dr Urjit R Patel, Governor, Reserve Bank of India, and the year of printing ‘2016’ printed on the reverse of the banknote.”

After this news was out, we all were eager to know how the new note would look like. Finally, a picture of this “Alleged new Rs 50 note” has gone viral on social media. Have a look at the leaked image.

The first thing that has attracted our eye is the new color scheme. Yes, these notes are turquoise blue in color, thereby differing totally from the current color scheme. These notes have Mahatma Gandhi printed on them.

As of now, there is no confirmation from RBI about the printing or circulation of notes and so, we have a doubt about them being authentic. Reports also said that there would be a temple from South India printed on the back side, but since only the front side is visible, it couldn’t be confirmed. Most probably it’s fake; we did our research and came across a tweet from a fact check site, which said it’s fake. However, we can’t give any surety as of now. It could be real too and there are chances it could be fake as well.
