With the Lok Sabha elections just around the corner, we have another strategically placed biopic to get released. Filmmaker Omung Kumar, has already released the trailer of the biopic on our Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi titled ‘PM Narendra Modi’, where Vivek Anand Oberoi is playing the central character. Though he is under several prosthetic, he is calm and determined.
Now, the moment the makers released their first posters, trailer and even announced their release date, the film caught itself into a whirlwind of controversies. It is making headlines, even before the actual release of the film. People trolled Vivek Oberoi when the first poster was released in January and again when the trailer got released.
After the trailer released the PM Modi biopic landed into a controversy, as poet and lyricist Javed Akhtar and lyricist Sameer took to Twitter to clarify the fact that they never wrote any songs for the PM Modi biopic. They were even surprised when they saw their own name in the end credits of the film.

Even lyricist Sameer told a leading daily ‘After reading his tweet, I called Javed saab to tell him that I too was not approached by the filmmaker or the production house to work on the biopic. I haven’t written any song for the movie. I don’t understand what they are crediting me for.’
Even activist and lawyer Prashant Bhushan called this act as ‘defamatory’ and supported Javed Akhtar by re sharing his Tweet.
It is defamatory to claim that the lyrics of a C grade election propaganda film are written by an outstanding poet & lyricist like Javed Akhtar. Shows the desperation of Bhakts https://t.co/CZxfoYfauQ

Amidst all these controversies, producer of the film took to Twitter to clarify the reason behind it. He stated why they gave credit to lyricist Javed Akhtar and Sameer, which was totally uncalled for.

Sameer even said that the music labels should be aware, if the makers used any of their old songs, but even they don’t know anything. He even tried calling Sandeep Ssingh and Omung Kumar, but their phones were switched off. He even demanded rectification.
