The case of Pratyusha’s suicide has taken an ugly turn after her mother held her boyfriend Rahul Raj Singh responsible for her suicide. Pratyusha’s mother Soma Banerjee revealed, “I used to live with my daughter in Kandivali. But on January 12 this year, Rahul said he would take her to live with him in Malad. She told me to return to Jamshedpur, where I live with my husband. Two days ago she spoke to her father and said her life was difficult. On Thursday, she spoke to me and said the same thing. She sounded upset.”
Soma further added, “Rahul is definitely responsible for my daughter’s death because she was unhappy and upset in the relationship.”
Police has questioned actor-producer Rahul Raj Singh regarding the case; he has not been taken into custody, however police did take him to the Siddharth Municipal Hospital as it was the place where autopsy of the deceased was done. A police officer stated, “We are recording the statement of Rahul in connection with the suicide. We are also checking the last call details and the SMSes exchanged between the duo.”
The 24 years old TV actress Pratyusha Banerjee committed suicide by hanging herself to the ceiling fan at her house in Goregaon locality in Mumbai on Friday, April 1st. Pratyusha had a great fan following as she played the role of Anandi in one of the most watched and popular serials “Balika Vadhu.” Moreover, she was also seen in other TV shows including the reality TV show “Bigg Boss 7” and dance show “Jhalak Dikhlaa Jaa 5”.
Pratyusha’s parents have reached Mumbai from Jamshedpur and made a claim to the body. In the primary investigation conducted by the police, it seems that the actress committed suicide on Friday around 5 pm in her flat; she was rushed to Kokilaben Hospital where doctors declared her dead. As no suicide note has been recovered till now, police is waiting for the report of autopsy to know the real cause of the death.
As of now, Bangur Nagar police has filed a case under accidental death.
It has been said that Pratyusha’s relationship with Rahul was going through a bad phase and this is confirmed by the WhatsApp status of the actress that reads, “Marke bhi muh na tuzse modana” (even after death won’t be turning my face away from you).
As the news spread, Pratyusha’s friends from the industry including Gurmeet Chaudhury, Kamya Punjabi and others started reaching Goregaon hospital. This is what Gurmeet said, “I met her last at Holi and everything seemed normal. Cannot say why she committed suicide.”
Pratyusha’s good friend and designer Rohit Verma said that last time when he talked to her, she wanted him to design her wedding dress. In his words, “I spoke to her last on March 22. She had told me to design her wedding outfit. She was going to meet me today to discuss the color palette.” When Rohit was asked whether he has any information about the marriage date, he replied, “No I don’t know about it. I was in London when she had called me up. She had invited me to come for Holi party as well, but I couldn’t come.”
