A 35 year old priest, named Prem Singh Parmar, who was attached to South Mumbai’s temple, was arrested last night by the police for raping as well as blackmailing a 38 year old woman.
Earlier Parmar was working in a temple in Cotton green and it is said that he has been raping this woman since the year 2013. Police officials say that Parmar became quite friendly with this woman when she visited the temple.
Being a resident of Kalbadevi, Parmar allegedly called her to his house in 2013 by giving her the greed of ‘special prasad’. When she went there, he spiked her drink and took some dirty photos of her while she was unconscious.
As per the police, he has been raping the woman since then and has been blackmailing her that he would show these photos to her in-laws. Even abusive text messages were being sent to the woman. Finally, she told the entire incident to her husband after which they lodged complaint at Gamdevi police station.
Now, Parmar is booked under various sections of IPC including criminal intimidation, outraging modesty of a woman and rape.
