Proud Moment – 3 Indians In 100 Shortlisted For One Way Trip To Mars

Two women and one men have made it to the top 100 list of applicants for going to Mars. Among the top 100 candidates, four people will be sent to Mars every few years starting 2024. But the trip is a one-way trip as the organization wants to set up a colony of living beings on planet Mars.

Mars One, a non-profit organization of Netherlands previously announced the programme called Mars One Astronaut Selection Process. More than 200,000 people applied for the programme. Among them the top 100 applicants now got selected on the basis of an personal online interview between each candidate and Norbert Kraft, Chief Medical Officer. The participants were asked to show their team-spirit and they were asked if they know the risks and dangers revolving around the mission. The next selection round will be on the basis of how one can endure all the trouble of a permanent settle on planet Mars. Then the selected candidates will receive their training at a copycat station of Mars on Earth.  The final four candidates will receive training for 7 years. The organization has a plan to send a total of 40 candidates to Mars.

The three Indian participants who got selected in the top 100 list are – Taranjeet Singh Bhatia, Ritika Singh and Shradha Prasad. While the first two lives respectively in Florida and Dubai, the third one is eventually from Kerala.
