As Josh Little of Ireland stepped up to receive the award for the best catch — a sharp take that dismissed Fakhar Zaman — Raja inadvertently referred to the PSL as the “HBL IPL,” prompting a wave of laughter and viral reactions across social media.

The mix-up, though brief, took center stage online, even as fans celebrated a dominant performance by the home team at Multan Cricket Stadium. The Sultans, coming off a rocky start to the season, produced a thrilling turnaround marked by aggressive batting and tight bowling.

Leading the charge with the bat was Yasir Khan who announced his arrival this season with a breathtaking 87 off just 44 deliveries. From the first ball, Yasir exuded confidence, dispatching the Qalandars’ bowlers with a mix of precision and power. Partnered by skipper Mohammad Rizwan who added a brisk 32, the pair forged an 89-run opening stand that set the tone for a record-setting total of 228 for five, the highest ever posted at this ground in the PSL history.

Chasing a daunting target, Lahore’s batters showed glimpses of resistance. Fakhar Zaman, Sam Billings and Sikandar Raza all played entertaining cameos but the Sultans’ bowling attack, led by the young and fiery Ubaid Shah, proved too much. Ubaid Shah finished with three wickets and Josh Little’s stunning catch helped seal a 33-run win.

Despite the Sultans’ emphatic victory, Islamabad United continue to lead the league standings as the only unbeaten team, having secured four consecutive wins. Karachi Kings trail just behind, while the Qalandars currently sit third, still in the playoff mix despite their defeat.

In a match rich with memorable moments, it was a blend of explosive cricket and an off-script slip that ensured this game would be remembered for more than just the scoreboard.
