Punjab Govt Building New Road With Taxpayer’s Money That Leads To Badal’s Luxury Resort - RVCJ Media

Construction of a 1.3 Km road which will be 100 feet wide and will lead to a luxury resort which is partly owned by the Badals has been commenced by the Greater Mohali Area Development Authority (GMADA).  This luxury resort which is named as Metro Eco Green Resorts is partly owned by the Union Minister Harsimrat Kaur Badal and her husband, Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal. The cost of this road is said to be Rs.29 crore as per the estimate of Department of Housing and Urban Development, published in social impact assessment (SIA) report.

The Congress Leader Sukhpal S Khera claimed that, “All the roads in Mullanpur (Known as new Chandigarh) are not being built as per the master plan. These roads have been constructed to benefit the Badal’s family by misusing the government authority.”

He further demanded that an enquiry should be conducted on the matter of misuse of public funds by the Badal Government.

However, Special Principal Secretary to the Deputy Chief Minister, Manvesh Singh Sidhu said, “The road is being built as per the Master Plan. All roads in Mullanpur (New Chandigarh) are being built as per the Master Plan. It is part of the duly notified New Chandigarh Master Plan. Since this is a Master Plan road, this is also being built.”

Sukhbir Singh Badal is already under fire by the opposition for his links with drug mafia and now his intentions have been again questioned on the matter of construction of a road which will lead to his luxury resort.
