When PV Sindhu Was Struggling Hard To Get A Medal, Indians Were Googling Her Caste #Pathetic

Although India has developed to a great extent over years in a number of fields, there are still many Indians who could not change their mindset and thinking. Needless to say, a number of citizens here judge individuals on the basis of their caste and religion even in the 21st century! What could be more pathetic than this?

It would come to you as a great shock that when PV Sindhu was undergoing strenuous training and struggling hard, making attempts to push herself beyond limits to win a medal for India in Olympics 2016, numerous Indians were googling her caste!

2016 Summer Olympics

Yes, you read it right! What else could better mark the irony of the modern era in which we are living! We claim to be contemporary people who don’t differentiate on the basis of caste, creed, color and religion and look, what we just found! A girl is giving her best for her country while citizens of that nation are trying hard to know her caste and identity! What a pity!

Vivekanand Nagarajan first brought it to the attention of people by posting this on Facebook:

Even I tried to search on Google to see the authenticity of this search result and to my shock, here’s what I saw:

Talking about Indian states that googled the caste of Sindhu in past one week, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, Haryana, Karnataka and Kerala top the list, while as far as countries which search the same are concerned, India, Bahrain, Qatar, Oman, United Arab Emirates and Kuwait appear on top. Inhabitants of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh claim that Sindhu belongs to them.

When we collected stats for this search term in the months of May, June and July, the result was disturbing:

Even more surprisingly, there had been a minimum of 10 times more searches in the month of August as compared to July. Hence, millions of people, especially from India, showed more interest in her caste than her passion and hard work.

Did we hear that modern India is free from casteism?
