The young Indian cricketer Yashasvi Jaiswal is making waves in the international cricket especially after his superb performance in the first test match of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024 which was played in Perth.
Yashasvi’s incredible year continued as he scored an impressive 161 runs in the second innings of his first Test match in Australia. Despite being dismissed for a duck in the first innings, the 22 years old cricketer bounced back with a commanding performance, showcasing his ability to adapt and dominate. His knock was pivotal in India’s massive 295-run victory, making India the first team to defeat Australia in a Test at Perth Stadium.
The former India head coach Rahul Dravid lavishes huge praises on Yashasvi Jaiswal, saying that the young batter has shown remarkable progress since his international debut just over a year ago. Rahul Dravid, who was coaching the Indian team when Yashasvi Jaiswal debuted in West Indies, recalled the player’s impressive 171-run innings in that match, which included partnerships with captain Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli. Dravid noted that Yashasvi Jaiswal’s hunger and determination to succeed will help him grow even further.
Highlighting the significance of Yashasvi Jaiswal’s century in Perth, Rahul Dravid said that it was rare for a player to score a hundred on the Australian soil in their first Test there. Yashasvi Jaiswal’s century in Perth was his third this year and fourth overall in Test cricket. In 2023, he has scored 1280 runs in 23 Test innings at an average of 58.18. Across his 15-Test career, he has accumulated 1568 runs at an average of 58.07. In T20Is, Yashasvi Jaiswal has played 23 matches for India, scoring 723 runs at a strike rate of 164.11 and an average of 36.15, with five half-centuries and a century to his name.
