As the Finance Minister Arun Jaitley declared that they are reversing the decision of imposing 60% tax on the withdrawal from EPF contribution, Rahul Gandhi declared himself as the crusader for common man by taking the credit of this roll back decision by the government.
The Congress Vice-President stated, “I felt middle-class people were being hurt by the government, so I decided to put some pressure on the government…my pressure did work. Finally the government was forced to listen to people and roll back the patently unfair tax on EPF.”
This decision of the government was criticized a lot by the salaried people, trade unions and also from the people from political circles. After this, PM Modi directed the Finance Ministry to linger on this plan till a detailed research is done on the matter.
Rahul Gandhi tried to capitalize the moment by claiming that it was his pressure that worked on the government but Twitter has a different opinion about it….
