The Congress President Rahul Gandhi is always in news, whether for his pics getting circulated on the social media in which he is seen helping people or for getting a seat in the sixth row in the Republic Day function. However this time, he has made headlines for not so good reason as the opposition has got ammunition to attack him.
Rahul Gandhi is in Meghalaya for starting the election campaign as the state is going for elections soon. On 30th January which is the death anniversary of Mahatama Gandhi, a musical program called “Celebration of Peace” was organised.

Rahul attended the program wearing an expensive black jacket, the cost of which is said to be nearly Rs. 70,000.
Check out the pic:

Here’s one more photo:

The Meghalaya unit of BJP came up with the complete information about the jacket as their official Twitter handle tweeted Rahul’s photo from the function paired with original jacket and price and wrote, “So @OfficeOfRG , soot(pun intended!)-boot ki sarkar with ‘black’ money fleeced from Meghalayan State exchequer by rampant corruption? Instead of singing away our woes, you could have given a report card of your inefficient govt in Meghalaya! Your indifference mocks us!”

This is a jacket from Burberry, a British luxury fashion brand and its cost on the website of Bloomingdales is Rs 68,145.

This reaction was in context to Rahul’s jibe at the Modi government with comment of “suit-boot ki sarkar” which he made when PM Modi wore a monogrammed suit for his meeting with Barack Obama, the President of the USA in 2015. The cost of that suit was said to be Rs. 11 lakhs and it was auctioned for Rs. 4.31 crores.
Twitter has also trolled Rahul Gandhi over this and here are some selected tweets:
A jibe at ‘Suit boot ki sarkar’ statement:
Congress who always cry @narendramodi ki sarkar to
suit aur boot ki sarkar but their leader Rahul Gandhi is wearing Burberry's $995 (64000RS approx) jacket. 😰@TajinderBagga @PMOIndia pic.twitter.com/5OyM1Mn3UA— Priya (@priyaakulkarni2) January 30, 2018
LOL 😀
Rahul Gandhi in a thousand dollar Burberry quilted jacket. Reminds me of Sonia Gandhi's sable coat which was refitted by Fendi. Self-validation by @OfficeOfRG of his cheesy "1% of India's population gets 73% of its wealth" comment. #PakoraTales pic.twitter.com/xJ0eRcjsX5
