Sridevi’s demise was a big shock for Bollywood industry and her fans. Everything happened so suddenly that nobody got a chance to be prepared.
The reason for her death was suggested to be cardiac arrest but later forensic reports revealed that she died due to accidental drowning. Reports also revealed that the traces of alcohol were found in her body and soon it became a national issue.
There were many people online and offline who seemed to be too worried about the “alcohol thing” and it being found in the body of Sridevi. Later they also said that Sridevi didn’t deserve a state funeral for the same reason
The latest person to join all of them is MNS (Maharashtra Navnirman Sena) leader, Raj Thackeray.
While addressing the party workers at a rally recently, Raj Thackeray said that Sridevi didn’t deserve a state funeral. He also questioned –
“What did she do for the country that her body was wrapped in the tricolour?”
As per TOI, lashing out the Maharashtra government, Thackeray alleged that the media attention given to Sridevi’s demise had a purpose to divert public’s attention from the multi-million PNB-Nirav Modi scam. He claimed that the media was under pressure from the BJP government. He was quoted as saying –
“Nirav Modi was the talk of the town, then the issue of Sridevi came in. This was brought to change the issue. When a person like Sridevi dies, you wrap her in tri-colour and you say you did that because she was a Padma Shri. It was all fault of the Maharashtra government.”
He also took a dig at Akshay Kumar and said that he is not even an Indian Citizen and trying to follow steps of Manoj Kumar who was called Bharat Kumar . Thackeray further called Akshay’s films like Toilet: Ek Prem Katha and Pad Man a propaganda of the government schemes.
