Jayalalithaa’s death has caused a vacuum in Tamil Nadu politics; everyone is badly missing their dear Amma and on Sunday, a condolence meeting was held for her at Nadigar Sangam. Even Rajinikanth attended the meeting and revealed something surprising.
Yes, he stated that he had hurt Amma in a very bad way. Well, the actor stated that through his campaign speech during 1996, he ensured that Jayalalithaa’s party AIDMK is defeated. Further he said that his denouncement of Jayalalithaa and her politics had caused a lot of distress to her.
Back then, he had said “If Jayalalithaa is voted back to power, even God cannot save Tamil Nadu.” DMK had won those elections and on the other hand, AIADMK managed to get just 4 seats.
Thalaivaa says that in spite of such difficulties, Amma didn’t hold any grudges against him. Rajinikanth even recalled an incident wherein he had invited Amma to his daughter Aishwarya’s wedding. Since the CM was living just next door, he had no other option; but he was sure that Amma won’t come, considering the scenario of political campaigns. But she had a big heart and made it to the wedding without any grudges.
He compared her with a “Kohinoor diamond” and described Jayalalithaa as a “Lady with golden heart”.
He also appreciated her for the way she handled the party after the death of her political mentor and the founder of AIADMK party, MG Ramachandran. She faced many challenges, but made sure that she sailed smoothly in this male-dominated society.
