SRK kept postponing Raees and finally he got the Republic Day slot and couldn’t avoid clashing with the Hrithik Roshan starrer Kaabil. There has been a lot of buzz surrounding this clash, but couple of days back there was an announcement that Kaabil would be releasing a day before i.e. 25th of January at 6 pm. These wouldn’t be paid previews but a full fledged release, so that clash with Raees could be avoided.
Rakesh Roshan breathed a sigh of relief by preponing the movie, but no, things are not going to be so smooth.
Today, the theatrical trailer of Raees is out and in that, the release date is 25th of January. WTF! Once again a clash between the biggies?
Earlier too, we had seen that Rakesh Roshan had booked the 26th January slot but SRK followed and now once again, when Kaabil is going to release on 25th of January evening, Raees too is all set to release on the 25th morning. It seems SRK wants to deliberately clash with Kaabil at any cost; is it fair?
Rakesh Roshan is pissed off with this behavior and he has finally broken his silence on the matter. In an interview with DNA, Rakesh said
“I didn’t know about their date. My distributors said we should come out on January 25 from the evening shows. I didn’t know the Raees team also planned to change their date.”
Further, he adds
“Whatever dates we are taking, they are following us. I would have never done the same. I belong to an old school of filmmaking and I have given 50 years of my life to the industry. I would never release my film on a day when another filmmaker has already announced their film. I decided to remove Krrish 4 also from Christmas 2018 because I saw SRK’s film is coming that day. I could have easily released my film with Befikre or even with Dangal if I had to clash. But when I announced the film in February, I saw a clean window in January and hence I picked the date. I can’t get into this new groove of things because I don’t understand it.”
Now, we really wonder as to what Kaabil makers would do. Will they release their movie in the morning itself or will they stick to their evening release? Commenting on this, Rakesh Roshan said
“It’s a full fledged release on January 25 and not just paid previews. Now that the other film is following my release date, it’s up to my distributors to take a call – whether to release from 6 pm or right from the morning shows.”
So guys, what do you have to say about SRK with regards to this? Is he doing it purposely so that the collections of his movie don’t get affected by this clash? Do share your views in our comments section below.
