Ramdev’s Atta Noodles Are NOT Approved By FSSAI - RVCJ Media

The noodles controversy has now caught hold of Patanjali atta noodles as the officials of Food Safety and Regulatory Authority of India have stated that the Patanjali atta noodles hasn’t obtained the needed product approvals. FSSAI chairman Ashish Bahuguna, who is also the CEO told Indian Express that, “Patanjali Atta Noodles has not got product approvals from us. The matter has been brought to our notice. We are pursuing it.”

When he was asked about the license number that can be seen on the packets of Patanjali atta noodles, he said, “How can licence be given for a product that has not been approved? Licences are issued by the state government to manufacture certain items. But approvals for (non-standardised) products are given by us. That approval was not taken. I do not know how the licence was procured.”

When the leading daily tried to know the Patanjali’s side of story, S K Tijarawala who is Baba Ramdev’s spokeperson said, “I am not aware of the technical details and currently there is nobody available who can give me the clarifications. I can revert tomorrow.”

FSSAI sources have made it clear that as noodles is not a standardized product, it becomes compulsory to take approval from FSSAI before selling noodles in the market. A senior official also made it crystal clear that the FMCG venture of Baba Ramdev, Patanjali Ayurved hasn’t applied for taking approvals for noodles. The senior official of FSSAI said, “I do not know what is there in the noodles.”

Hopefully someone from Patanjali Ayurved team will respond to this news soon.
