The Asian neighbours India and Pakistan started their campaign in the ICC T20 World Cup 2022 in a very different manner, while India began with a win against Pakistan and went on to win 4 out of 5 matches in the Super 12 stage, the Pakistani team went on the edge of elimination after losing matches against India and Zimbabwe.
Pakistan won against Netherlands and Bangladesh comfortably but against South Africa, things were not in its favour and the Pakistani cricketers should be praised for their valiant efforts as they emerged winners in that match as well. However even after winning three matches, Pakistan would have got eliminated but the luck favoured the team in a big manner as Netherlands pulled up a big upset by defeating South Africa and it facilitated Pakistan’s entry in the semi-finals.
Pakistan defeated New Zealand in the semi-finals and became the first finalist of the tournament.
Yesterday in the second semi-final, the Indian cricket team suffered a crushing defeat at the hands of the England cricket team and now England will face Pakistan in the finals of the ICC T20 World Cup 2022 which will be played at Melbourne Cricket Ground on November 13.
The chief of Pakistan Cricket Board Ramiz Raja used this as an opportunity to take a dig at the Indian cricket team and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) by saying that the billion dollar teams have been left behind by Pakistan in the ICC T20 World Cup 2022. Ramiz Raja states that they doubt themselves but now everyone should see that world cricket has left far behind while Pakistan has gone ahead of everyone. He adds that in this World Cup, everyone has seen that Pakistan is way ahead of the teams belonging to the billion dollar industry which means that Pakistan is doing certain things right so the Pakistan cricket fans should enjoy it and respect it as well. He goes on to say that from this same Pakistani cricket team, three players have been declared as the ICC Player of the Month.
In his words, “Hum apne aap ko doubt karte rehte hai. Aap dekhe world cricket kitne peche reh gayi hai aur Pakistan kitna aage nikla hai. Aap dekhe, iss World Cup me nazar aagaya. Ki billion-dollar ki industry wali teams peeche reh gayi hai aur hum jo hai woh upar nikal gaye hai. Toh kahi cheez toh theek kar rahe hai na hum. So uska aap enjoy bhi kare and respect bhi kare. Issi team main se, pichle mahine ne main hi teen players ICC ke best players declare huyi hai. Toh kahi cheez toh theek kar rahe hai na”.
Well, let’s just hope that team India learns from its mistakes and comes back stronger.
