Ranbir Kapoor’s career is moving at full speed but fans waiting for Animal Park will need a little patience. While the actor is juggling some of the biggest films of his career, the sequel to the 2023 blockbuster Animal is not arriving anytime soon. Ranbir recently shared that the film is still a few years away from going on floors, as director Sandeep Reddy Vanga is currently busy with another project.

Animal Park, which continues the intense and controversial world of Animal, is expected to begin production around 2027. Ranbir Kapoor explained that Sandeep Reddy Vanga is fully focused on his next film entitled Spirit and wants to give his complete attention to that before returning to the Animal universe. As a result, the sequel remains in the planning stage for now.
Although the script is not fully locked, Ranbir Kapoor revealed that the director has already shared the broad direction of the story. According to him, Animal Park is designed as the second chapter of a larger plan, with Sandeep Reddy Vanga even considering a three-part storyline. The sequel will take the story forward in a darker and more layered way, building on ideas that were discussed during the making of the first film.
One of the biggest highlights of Animal Park will be Ranbir Kapoor stepping into a double role. The actor shared that the sequel allows him to explore both the protagonist and the antagonist, making it an exciting creative challenge. For viewers who may not remember the finer details of Animal, Ranbir explained that the antagonist undergoes plastic surgery and transforms into a body double, eventually resembling the main character. This narrative twist sets the stage for the intense face-off that the sequel promises.
Released in 2023, Animal was a hyper-violent action drama that sparked massive debate while becoming a box office hit. Directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga, the film explored a deeply troubled father-son relationship. Ranbir Kapoor played Ranvijay ‘Vijay’ Singh, a man emotionally scarred by his distant father, portrayed by Anil Kapoor. After an assassination attempt on his father, Vijay’s obsession and thirst for revenge spiral into brutality.

Beyond Animal Park, Ranbir Kapoor is currently in one of the most ambitious phases of his career. He is working on Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Love & War, a 1960s-set historical drama featuring Alia Bhatt and Vicky Kaushal, slated for a June 2026 release. Later that year, he will be seen as Lord Ram in Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana: Part One.
With such diverse roles lined up, Animal Park may be delayed but anticipation around Ranbir’s intense return to the franchise continues to grow.
