The Hindi film industry aka Bollywood went through a tough time last year and majority of the movies including those of A-list actors also failed to perform on the box-office. However, there were few flicks which were liked by audiences and “Brahmastra” was one of them. “Brahmastra” is a trilogy which is directed by Ayan Mukerji, produced by Karan Johar and stars Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Amitabh Bachchan, Nagarjuna and others in important roles. It’s one of the most expensive movies of Bollywood with a lot of VFX and special effects as it is a fantasy action-adventure flick.
Recently, the 69th Dada Sahab Phalke International Film Festival Awards 2023 event took place in a 5-star hotel in Mumbai and many artists, directors, makers, TV actors, etc. were awarded for their superb performances. While Alia Bhatt won the Best Actress award for her work in “Gangubai Kathiawadi”, her husband Ranbir Kapoor won the Best Actor award for “Brahmastra” and this was a surprise for many as the flick is more about visual effects than acting so Ranbir Kapoor winning the Best Actor award didn’t go well with a good number of movie lovers despite the fact that Ranbir Kapoor is a good actor and many times he has given powerful acting performances. As Ranbir was not able to attend the event, his wife Alia Bhatt received the award on his behalf.
Even Ranbir Kapoor felt that there was not much to do in acting in “Brahmastra”. During a promotional event for his upcoming movie “Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar”, the actor was asked by a journalist to comment on winning the prestigious award. In reply, Ranbir Kapoor says that he is grateful for the award but he feels that he doesn’t deserve it as there was not much to do in “Brahmastra” as far as acting is concerned but of course it feels great whenever an award is won.
This reaction by Ranbir Kapoor has been appreciated by many as they loved his honesty and they also opine that it shows his class. However, there were some who started comparing him with Ranveer Singh by adding a video of the “Padmaavat” actor in which Ranveer Singh was trying to boast of his acting in “Simmba” as he felt that his performance was great but nobody talked about it.
