Ravi Shastri’s Annual Salary Revealed & This Is The Reason Why BCCI Preferred Him!

On Saturday, the Committee of Administrators gave final approval to appointment of former Indian cricketer Ravi Shastri as the head coach of Indian Men’s cricket team; however, they kept the decision of appointment of Rahul Dravid as batting consultant and Zaheer Khan as bowling consultant on hold as of now.

One more decision that needs to be made is that how much Ravi Shastri will be paid as remuneration. This will be decided by a panel of four members which will include CEO Rahul Johri, BCCI acting President CK Khanna, Committee of Administrators (CoA) member Diana Edulji and acting secretary Amitabh Choudhary.

As per sources from BCCI, Shastri may get a remuneration of Rs. 7 crore per year for a period of 2 years. Nevertheless, former coach Anil Kumble was demanding a salary of Rs. 9 crore annually which was equivalent to the earnings of a Grade A player and for a coach, this amount was considered high.

It’s an open secret that Ravi Shastri was captain Virat Kohli’s first choice for the coach and Shastri will prefer to have people of his own choice in the support staff. A meeting between Shastri and panel will take place on 19th July to discuss the matters of his salary and support staff.

Vinod Rai, the head of CoA, said,

“We will further discuss with Shastri the appointment of other coaches. We have set up a committee and they will speak to the CAC, communicate with them after talking to Shastri. The support staff has been decided in consultation with the head coach.”

He further said,

“Three appointments which are core to the coaching team have been decided. But we have to consult each one of them; we have to ascertain their willingness and have to ensure that there is no conflict of interest issue.”

The CoA has also clarified on the matter of Dravid and Zaheer,

“It’s only a recommendation. It’s not an appointment. A recommendation has been made and the CoA has to act on the recommendation which will be done only after consultation with the head coach.”

BCCI has invited applications for the post of team manager and last date to submit the application is July 21. The eligibility criteria is that the candidate should have the experience of playing cricket at domestic or international level with 10 yrs of experience at least in public or private sector.
