After the match, MI captain Hardik Pandya openly admitted that the team needs to fix several issues if they want to stay in the race for the playoffs. He said that both the batting and bowling units have not been performing consistently and that the team has often found itself trying to catch up instead of controlling games. He also stressed the need to rethink strategies and find better options moving forward.

Mumbai had won the toss and chose to bowl first but things quickly went out of control. Virat Kohli and Phil Salt gave RCB a flying start, adding 70 runs in the powerplay. Phil Salt was particularly aggressive, bringing up a quick half-century while targeting bowlers like Mitchell Santner and Mayank Markande.

Virat Kohli continued the momentum and took RCB past 100 with ease. Although Shardul Thakur managed to break the opening partnership by dismissing Phil Salt, the pressure didn’t ease. Captain Rajat Patidar walked in and immediately went on to attack, hitting big shots and keeping the scoring rate high.

Virat Kohli reached his half-century in 38 balls before being dismissed by Hardik Pandya. Soon after, Rajat Patidar also completed his fifty but was later dismissed by Mitchell Santner. In the final overs, Tim David played a crucial role, staying unbeaten on 34 off just 16 balls and pushing RCB to a strong total.

In response, MI managed 222 for five wickets but fell short. Sherfane Rutherford fought hard with a brilliant 71 but his effort wasn’t enough to chase down the target. Hardik Pandya praised Sherfane Rutherford’s innings, highlighting how his power hitting gave the team hope and confidence during the chase.
