RCB Fans Celebrate With Memes As Smriti Mandhana’s Team Lifts IPL Trophy For The First Time

History got scripted yesterday as the IPL franchise Royal Challengers Bangalore won their first IPL title; though it was their women team which won the trophy, still it ended the 16-yr drought of the Bangalore franchise and they lifted the IPL trophy for the first time ever.

Smriti Mandhana-led women team played superb cricket throughout the tournament and in the finals which was played yesterday at Arun Jaitley Stadium, New Delhi, it defeated Delhi Capitals by 8 wickets.

The toss was won by Delhi Capitals and it chose to bat first but the team failed in putting up a big total as the whole team was all out at the score of 113 runs in 18.3 overs. The team got a good start but it fumbled due to terrific bowling by RCB bowlers – Shreyanka Patil and Sophie Molineux who took 4 & 3 wickets, respectively. The top scorer for DC was Shafali Verma who scored 44 runs in 27 balls and her innings included 2 fours & 3 sixes.

The target of 114 was not a big one for RCB and they comfortably chased it in 19.3 overs with 8 wickets in hand. With this victory, the women’s team of RCB did something which the men’s team failed to do in the last 16 years despite having some of the biggest names of the cricket world in their set up.

Fans of RCB were overwhelmed with this achievement and they came out of their homes, gathered on roads and celebrated their favourite franchise’s first ever IPL win. The social media users were also not able to contain their excitement and here are some selected reactions:
