On June 4, 2025, a tragic stampede occurred outside M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru during celebrations for Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) IPL 2025 victory. The event, meant to be a joyous occasion, turned fatal when a massive crowd gathered for the victory parade, leading to a crush that ki*led 11 fans and injured many others. This tragedy cast a shadow over what should have been a historic moment for the team and its supporters, highlighting the dangers of uncontrolled crowds.
In a somber response to the tragic incident, the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) franchise recently announced on their social media accounts that they would provide ₹25 lakh each to the families of the 11 fans who lost their lives in the stampede. This financial aid came after the team’s long awaited first ever IPL title victory against Punjab Kings.
The team shared their heartbreak on X and Instagram, stating, “Our hearts broke on June 4, 2025. We lost eleven members of the RCB family. They were part of us. Part of what makes our city, our community & our team unique. Their absence will echo in the memories of each one of us.”
RCB also acknowledged that no amount of money could truly heal the loss. “No amount of support can ever fill the space they’ve left behind. But as a first step, and with the deepest respect, RCB has extended ₹25 lakh each to their families. Not just as financial aid, but as a promise of compassion, unity, and ongoing care,” they wrote.
This gesture also marked the beginning of a new initiative called RCB CARES. “This is also the beginning of RCB CARES: a long-term commitment for meaningful action that begins by honouring their memory. Every step forward will reflect what the fans feel, expect, and deserve,” the team explained in a caption.

The IPL 2025 victory itself, a culmination of an 18-year wait, happened at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. In the final match, RCB defeated Punjab Kings by six runs. After being asked to bat first, RCB posted a total of 190/9 in their 20 overs. Punjab Kings then chased the target but fell just short, managing 184 for seven wickets. While Shashank Singh scored an impressive unbeaten 61 runs off 30 balls for Punjab Kings, it wasn’t enough to secure the win.
For RCB, Krunal Pandya and Bhuvneshwar Kumar each took two wickets, while Arshdeep Singh and Kyle Jamieson each secured three wickets for Punjab Kings.
