Aamir Khan has joined the debate on “growing intolerance” and he has started a fresh controversy attracting some outrageous reactions from the public, especially from the netizens. The constitution of India provides every citizen the right of freedom of expression and speech and so it is the right of Aamir Khan to express his view on whatever he feels is happening in the country.
This is what Aamir said at an award function of Indian Express, “Kiran and I have lived all our lives in India. For the first time, she said, should we move out of India? That’s a disastrous and big statement for Kiran to make to me. She fears for her child. She fears about what the atmosphere around us will be. She feels scared to open the newspapers every day. That does indicate that there is a sense of growing disquiet.”
Well, this is not something which can be supported but if we take a look at the responses Aamir is getting, aren’t we getting intolerant in reality? People are protesting in front of his house, internet is full of hate messages for him, some political parties have also come out against him, isn’t this an example of intolerance? By disgracing him and calling him traitor and asking him to go to Pakistan, aren’t we making him feel that he was correct that intolerance is rising in the country?
Why not protest in a silent manner or chose a way which makes him realize that he needs to think again about his views…
