There is a ‘traditional’ aspect attached to white clothing. Cricket has been played since 1800s now. White symbolizes purity and since, cricket is a gentleman’s game, ‘white’ is just the perfect color. Till the early 2000s, cricketers used to where whites in ODI cricket too, except in South Africa, New Zealand and Australia. Reason 2 – Owing to the comfort factor attached to it!

When it comes to Test Cricket, cricketers are required to stay on field for around 5 days and that too in the hot sun. This is surely a grueling experience for the cricketers especially during summers. If white clothes are worn, heat is reflected better and offers a lot of comfort to the cricketers as compared to other colors. Even the stress levels of the players are reduced and they are prevented from dehydration and sun-stroke to some extent.

As you all know, dark red ball is used in Test cricket. If players are wearing whites, spotting the ball is pretty easy. Even when we talk about the T20 or modern day ODI cricket, colored clothing helps to spot the white ball in a better way.
