Raees was already surrounded by loads of controversies for featuring Mahira Khan, the Pakistani actress. Moreover, the film had faced the wrath because gangsterism was supported and Muslims were portrayed negatively.
For the makers, this has indeed been a very challenging experience. No doubt, Raees is doing a very good business in India, but unfortunately, it is facing loads of problems in Pakistan. Yes, the movie is facing a lot of hurdles in Pakistan, thereby raising many eyebrows there.
Raees was supposed to be released in Pakistan as the ban on Bollywood films was recently lifted. Obviously, this was a great news for the Raees team and they were all set for this release on the 10th of February. However, according to some reports by Pakistani media, the scenario looks different.
Now, it is being said that the release of the movie in Pakistan is put on hold. Samaa TV (Pakistani news channel) reported that
“Although Sindh and Punjab Censor Boards have issued U certificates to Raees on Friday, Central Censor Board is yet to approve the screening of the film in Pakistan. According to Chairman Censor Board, they have previewed the film, however, the decision will be taken on coming Monday as Saturday is weekly off and Sunday is a public holiday.”
Then, another channel stated that the Censor Board took this decision of holding the release because it feels Muslims are being defamed and are being portrayed as underworld figures and goons.
