Retired Merchant Navy Officer Defamed Aamir Khan & Got Arrested - RVCJ Media

This incident dates back to April 2014 when a Retired Merchant Navy Officer was arrested by Police for defaming actor Aamir Khan and his TV show Satyamev Jayate.

Actor Aamir Khan filed a complaint against a retired Mercant Navy officer Ajit Vadakayil (58) for vilifying him and his TV show Satyamev Jayate on the social media networks. Mumbai Police said that Ajit was arrested from Manipal, Karnataka based on the complaint of Aamir in which the actor has said that “false messages which claimed that donations sought in his TV show were going to a trust working for a particular religion” were getting circulated using the electronic media.

Case has been filed against Ajit under various sections of IT act and IPC for defamation. An officer of crime branch told, “Vadakayil was arrested and was immediately granted bail. Today, we filed a chargesheet against him in the court.”

Aamir met Sadanand Date, Joint Police Commissioner (Crime) last month at the headquarters of Mumbai Police and informed him regarding “false and malicious messages” that are being shared on various social media networks like Facebook, Twitter and messaging app WhatsApp, they are maligning his image and also making a dent in the image of his show.

Aamir had said on a social networking site that false and malicious messages were getting circulated through electronic media asking for donations for an entity named Humanity Trust which is working in a particular area. Aamir also said that there is relation between West Bengal’s Humanity Trust and the Humanity Trust that was referred in messages.

Aamir Khan has also clearly explained that, “all donations sought in the show are used and channelised for entirely deserving and secular causes, contrary to the content of the highly mischievous/malicious insinuations in the messages, being circulated by vested and unscrupulous interest.”
