Smartphone users actually don’t appear to be so smart in view of the fact that they just forward any message they come across on Facebook, Twitter or WhatsApp without confirming its authenticity and thus play a vital role in spreading fake news.
Recently a fake message was doing rounds on web and social media together with WhatsApp congratulating Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on being declared the best PM by UNESCO.
As soon as the message was forwarded by a couple of people, it started spreading like wood fire and social media was flooded with tweets. Needless to say, its impact was so high that individuals even didn’t feel the need to confirm the news once before forwarding or sharing it.
But as expected, this message turned out to be fake or rather hoax! Just take a look at few tweets:
