The IPL team Delhi Capitals registered their first win of the IPL 2024 after tasting defeats in their first two matches and what makes it more special is the fact that it was against the five times champions Chennai Super Kings.
Delhi Capitals gave an all-round performance as they proved themselves better than CSK in every segment. The match was played yesterday at Dr. Y.S. Rajashekar Reddy ACA-VDCA International Cricket Stadium, Visakhapatnam and after winning the toss, DC chose to bat.
DC made some changes in their squad and one of them was inclusion of Prithvi Shaw (47 runs) in the team who along with David Warner (52 runs) gave his team a good start. They both stitched a partnership of 93 runs for the first wicket and Rishabh Pant also played a superb knock of 51 runs for which he played 32 deliveries and smashed 4 fours and 3 sixes.
DC put up a score of 191/5 in their stipulated 20 overs and in response, CSK could manage only 171/6 so DC won the match by 20 runs. The only satisfying thing for CSK in yesterday’s match was MS Dhoni’s aggressive knock of 37 runs not out for which he played only 16 deliveries and his innings included 4 fours and 3 sixes.
Rishabh Pant has made a comeback on the cricket field after a long break as he had met a car accident and got severely injured.
During the post-match presentation, the young cricketer stated that 1.5 years is something that he has built his life on. He added that he still needs to keep learning as a cricketer and he had the self-belief that whatever happens, he has to return to the ground and he didn’t think about anything else.
Talking about his innings, Rishabh Pant stated that as a cricketer, he needs to give his 100 percent and it took some time for him to get in the flow in the beginning as he hasn’t played much cricket in the last 1.5 years.
Rishabh Pant was full of praises for his bowlers and said that they were pretty clinical as they have learned from their mistakes. The DC skipper also praised Prithvi Shaw for his innings and said that he was working very hard for the last two weeks, so they thought that it is the right time to give him a chance and he performed pretty well.
